Investigation of Cultural Values in English Textbooks for Junior High School Students

The purpose of this study was to identify the embodiment cultural values in English textbooks for junior high school students. This research used a qualitative approach with content analysis method. data form collection discourse texts monologues, dialogues and exercises. were taken from two books entitled Scaffolding In Focus, published by Book Center Ministry National Education. It is grade X. procedure analysis. process validity done through credibility, transferability, triangulation, dependability, confirmability. results showed that dominant value optimistic 43%. Then followed brotherhood 23.80%, social 19% freedom 14%. Each found also describes some more specific values. contains character values, namely independence hard work. friendliness responsible; courage, creativity, discipline, curiosity, contain cooperation. concluded had important increasing students’ as
